The ONLY way to view GOES-16 data in its true native resolution is through the new LEADS 7. The reason? LEADS 7 is has been upgraded to run on a 64-bit platform. The sheer volume of data, increased file sizes and resolution have made it impossible to process the information on anything less. LEADS 6 and LEADS 5 will continue to run on 32-bit platforms and customers who still have LEADS 6 & LEADS 5 will be able to receive GOES-R data, but the resolution will be less than true. You can view a sample of the GOES-16 MESO sectors in our article about Weather.MeteoStar.Com in this issue of the MeteoStar Newsletter, or, you can view the full 8K resolution video on our YouTube Channel.
Being on a 64-bit platform might be the biggest news about the new LEADS 7, but it’s not the only improvement we’ve made. Here at MeteoStar, we listen to customer feedback about what enhancements and features would make your lives easier and your daily user experiences with our software more enjoyable. One of the additional benefits of a 64-bit platform is a faster processing time with our GUI. We’ve also added CentOS 7 Support and Stand Alone GeoWebCache to help things run at a smooth and robust rate.
Other added features include:

weather.meteostar.com, which is now known as CONVERGENCE, has been upgraded to run on the latest version of our powerful weather software, LEADS 7. This has allowed us to add several new data sets, some of which include GOES-16, MRMS, and HRRR.The GOES-16 data sample above is from Subtropical Storm Alberto, which made landfall in the panhandle of Florida earlier this year. This video is HD1080 and images are the minute-by-minute MESO sectors. You can view the full 4K resolution movie on our YouTube channel. Just one example of the incredible viewing power that LEADS 7 and the GOES-16 data can bring to your daily workflow!
IGM has now been fully integrated into the CONVERGENCE website. Users will now have full access to all of the latest tools from the IGM platform, including interactive mapping, drawing tools, and the ability to create your own polygons for watching and warnings.
MeteoStar prides itself on its ability to integrate different data sources, software and hardware, all to make your daily workflow that much easier. GOES-16 data is one of our latest features that has already brought proven results.
During the summer of 2017, MeteoStar installed its own GOES-16 dish at its Englewood, CO offices and began testing GOES-16 data feeds. When the satellite became fully operational on December 18, 2017, MeteoStar was not just ready, we were ahead of the game. As the newest addition to our suite of data services, we are currently processing all of the ABI channels as well as derived products in their beta state.
GOES-16 is a vast improvement in data services over the older GOES-East satellite. The upgraded technology and instrumentation are designed to provide more timely and accurate weather forecasts and warnings of thunderstorms, tornadoes, fog, flash floods and other severe weather. The minute-by-minute MESO sectors provide incredible, high-resolution imagery. You can view a sample of the imagery in our article, “weather.meteostar.com” in this issue of our newsletter. You can also view it in full 4K resolution on our YouTube channel!
MeteoStar continues to be a leader in revolutionizing the way we view weather data. Daily workflow and forecasting has improved by adding the best technology and integrating GOES-16 high-resolution weather data. Our meteorologists now have the tools to create even better weather forecasts using our LEADS software. These GOES-16 products are now being distributing to our customers all over the world. We have received remarkable feedback from customers who pull designed images and raw data from our data center.
