LEADS Environmental Monitoring System

ADVANTAGES

LEADS EMS offers a state of the art solution for accurate data acquisition, storage, analysis, and display.  Automatic flagging of erroneous or suspect data occurs in real time.  LEADS EMS is fully integrated from the instrument to the user – changes such as adding new instruments or entire monitoring sites, or the manual editing of data is automatically reflected throughout all the displays and reports.

Automated QA/QC
Just collecting data is not enough.  You need to be sure that the data you collect truly represents actual ambient conditions.  That’s why LEADS EMS has extensive automatic calibration and data quality algorithms built right in.  There are multiple types of automatic data quality checks that can be set up.  Fully automated calibrations or other instrument changes can be scheduled or run as needed.  Instrument drift or failure can be caught early before a large amount of data is affected.  Bad data is flagged and does not go into summary reports or other decision aids.  Advanced data validation and editing tools allow a human to quickly and easily recover data rejected by the automatic tests or remove even more data as suspect.

Alerts
Alert thresholds can be set for critical parameters (such as ozone) that trigger automatic notifications to health officials, schools, and the general public when measured levels reach the trigger point.

Data Integration
Weather has a major impact on air and water quality.  To complement standard air and water quality measurements from your instruments and monitoring sites, LEADS EMS also integrates full meteorological data from the National Weather Service.  With the optional NOAAPort data feed, you get access to the full range of weather products available – including satellite imagery, radar, surface conditions, upper air soundings, and forecast gridded data.  All of your locally measured data can be plotted and displayed alongside data from the National Weather Service.

Data Display
LEADS EMS offers graphical time-series depictions of measured data and a robust family of tabular reports.  Data sets available include discrete data samples, 5-minute averages, 30-minute averages, hourly averages, 3-hour averages, 8-hour averages, and 24-hour averages.  Hourly and 30-minute averages are computed from the basic 5-minute data.  The higher averages are automatically computed from the hourly averages.  Since LEADS EMS is tightly integrated, changes made by validators are automatically reflected in all of the derived averages.

Scalability
Current LEADS EMS installations range from a single site measuring a few parameters to well over 200 sites in a single network measuring a full spectrum of parameters.  Whether you have one site or hundreds, LEADS EMS will work for you.
